Hi! I have controller Eurotherm 3504. One of the thermocouples is not defined by controller as a B-type, it is identified as K-type. And we can’t change it for some reasons as a B-type. May be somebody had the same issue and can give me a piece of advice....Thanks

 

1) change the thermocouple in the process from B to K
2) use a -proper- temperature controller that supports all thermocouples, see: https://cascade.net/en/rb-series/

 

Thanks! It is the third thermocouple in controller...Other two are B and they work properly in this controller...it is a high temperature process and that is why I can't change thermocouple to K-type...

 

Ok, better test it all very well with a good thermocouple simulator so you're 100% sure the measurement is correct to avoid misreadings. Especially with a high process value alarm you must be 100% sure about the correct measurement!

Type B : 0-1820 C

 

Sounds like OP can't change the setting in the controller to reflect the actual TC type in the field. Is there a password lock on it? Some of those controllers let you lock parameter changes with a password that has to be entered into one of the parameters to unlock.

 

There are plenty of manuals on the web, but it might be better to contact the supplier

 

That is often the quickest solution.
