I just graduated with AA degree in Mechatronics and currently looking for a job in Industrial Automation Maintenance. Since I graduated, I have applied 41 jobs and had 4 interviews. As for the interviews, they have told me that I don’t have enough experience in electrical areas. I’m seeking advice how to learn more hands on electrical training and troubleshooting at home. Any suggestions?

 

Getting started can be difficult, many employers want people who can hit the ground running.

You could try to undertake some online PLC training, AB or Siemens, so at least you would have more to offer than most other graduates.

 

That’s a very practical suggestion, especially PLC training is definitely a strong step for building industry-relevant skills. Along with that, I’d also recommend focusing on basic electrical troubleshooting practice (motor control circuits, sensors, relays) so you can connect theory with real maintenance scenarios. One more important point, make sure your resume clearly highlights even small lab projects and technical exposure. A well-structured, professional resume can significantly improve how employers perceive your hands-on capability, even at entry level.
