I/P converters active or passive

I need to know whether i/p converters are considered as active or passive transducers. I need to check the calibration of an i/p converter and the calibrator provides different current source points for active and passive transducers. I think it is passive transducer as it doesn't have its own supply but still i remember that somewhere i read it categorised as active transducer. Please elaborate.

The terms "passive" and "active" normally refer to 4-20mA analog outputs as to whether the output is powered externally (passive) or internally (active).

An I/P has an analog input, not an analog output. It transduces the 4-20mA signal to a proportional pneumatic signal.

This means i/p converter is to be considered active transducer ? Right david?
