Are there any additional requirements (requirements over and above standard practice) that I should put into practice when employing zener barriers and / or repeaters (remote amplifiers) with E-Stop switches in hazardous areas?

Thank you for your assistance.

If the hazardous area classification is EX"i" and you are using barriers/isolator amplifiers then you dont need anything extra.

You could go for an EX"d" enclosure for the E/Stop for backup, but it is very expensive though.

Just curious how you plan to implement hard wired circuits through IS barriers to a safety relay? Are there safety relays so rated?

If you have a SIL (Safety Integrity Level) requirement for the safety loop where the you are going to install the E/stop button, then you have
to include the probability of failure dangerously of any device added to the loop, and verify that the required SIL is achieved.
