How to use MVI46-MCM Modbus RTU to read Danfoss VLT 6000 Heatsink Temperature?

 

First you will want to implement the sample ladder logic for the SLC500 processor to allow the SLC and the module to exchange data. If you are using the default sample program, then you will change the values in the N10 file to set the baud rate, data bits, stop bits, and set the module to operate as a modbus master.

Next you will need to know what modbus address to read the "heatsink temperature" from the Danfoss VLT 6000? Is this 40001, 30001, or some other address within that range? Once you know this, you can configure a modbus master command (N11:0 file for Port 1 of the module). This command will tell the module what device is on the network, and what address data is at.

Set the jumper on the module for either RS232/422/or485 and you are done.
