Runaway servo motor

I would suggest setting up this M variable or similar to look for noise when using quadrature feedback:

M218->X:$078004,18,1 ; ENC2 Count-error flag

I have very good luck using this to determine if I am having encoder noise causing random motion issues, if this flag is ever set you should work on proper wiring techniques until it is fixed.

The list goes on from there.... good luck.

I have worked at a "panel builder" company in the past where some panels were engineered to place control wires in the same duct as 480 volt cabling...they did not care what problems may result, they were on a time budget, so re-engineering was out of the question...this may often be overlooked.

> Just curious; was there ever a resolution of this issue?

Hi James,
Sorry for the lack of reply. The problem seem to have disappeared. Maybe it's a seasonal thingy... or just somebody messing around... I've written a trap to catch the key parameters if it happens again.

Thanks for all advice.

Just want to know, whether any conclusion was made for this problem. We faced a similar issue in one of our machine too. Did this problem happened for vertical axis?
In our case its a siemens servomotor and motion controller.
