We have some digital signals (status and control signal) in the field which needs to be displayed/controlled to/from DCS. The distance is approximately 3 KM. Please advise how to transmit these signals to/from DCS. There signals are from/to a pump local panel. What voltage and cable size to be considered to keep the drop to a minimum of 5%.

It is required to transmit 4-20 mA signal from a pressure transmitter make Rosemount model #3051 to a control room located approximately 3 KM from the device. Please advise what cable size to be considered to keep the drop to a minimum of 5%.

You don't say what your DCS is, but most suppliers today have remote I/O capability. If yours has that capability, I recommend installing a small remote I/O cabinet at your local pump panel and then use a redundant fiber optic link to transmit the signals between the remote location and the control room.
