Tolomatic Expands Its Hydraulic-Class Electronic Actuators For Higher Force Range

The new RSX extreme force line generates the same forces and actuation velocities as hydraulic actuators without the need for messy oil, complicated directional control valves, cumbersome hydraulic lines, and the droning sound of a hydraulic pump.

 

The RSX Line

New models such as the RSX128 gained a 60% increase of maximum load handling up to 50,000 lb force or 222.4 kN force. The RSX line includes two other models, the RSX080 model capable of producing 18,000 lb of force or 80 kN as well as the RSX096P press model capable of producing 40,000 lb of force. The RSX line features accurate positioning, up to ten-thousandth of a foot for precision processes and stroke lengths up to 35 inches. The velocity achieved by the actuators is 30 inches per second or 760mm per second.

The planetary roller screw system paired with 4 ball bearings capable of handling high axial forces, is what makes the RSX line a robust and reliable choice when sizing actuators for a project. The standard IP65 enclosure rating of the actuator protects against common dust and water spray. The IP67 option allows the actuator to be fully functional while submerged under one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Oversized clamping studs and a type III hard coat anodized aluminum housing ensures that failure under working loads does not occur. Tolomatic also offers an actuator rated for working in food-grade applications featuring 316 stainless steel parts, food-grade grease, and paint.

 

Eliminating the Need For Hydraulic Lines

Tolomatic actuators feature a “Your motor here” option for any modular electric motors or gearboxes to be directly mounted with frame sizes up to 215mm. This eliminates the need for hydraulic lines, remotely mounted pumps, or hydraulic fluid reservoirs. The reliance for operational temperature is a thing of the past with electric actuation as well as potential system failures expected in a hydraulic circuit; which could harm the operator, bystanders, or the environment in which the system operates.

Maintenance is fast and painless with zerk fittings and a relubrication port. Besides electric actuation, a unique feature of the RSX line that separates it from hydraulic actuators is an anti-rotating rod for applications that require precise linearity. Tolomatic offers a variety of 12 different switches containing reverse polarity protection that control the actuation of the devices.

The RSX actuators can be used in a variety of industries and applications such as heavy equipment, injection molding processes, bearing pressing, punches, tube bending, and parts clamping.
