Addressing Industry Challenges

With the growing pressure on industries to boost their productivity while reducing impacts on the environment and energy consumption, manufacturers across sectors like food and beverage, consumer packed goods, and industrial equipment are struggling with this challenge due to high energy usage of industrial equipment, which consumes power even during idle periods.

The new Energy Manager addresses these challenges by offering deep insights to the plant managers on their energy consumption patterns. With these insights, operators can develop targeted strategies to improve operations, lower energy waste and expenses, and achieve sustainability goals.

Key Features of the Energy Manager Solution

One of the key features of the Energy Manager solution is the real-time monitoring functionality of fluctuations of frequencies and voltage in order to identify recurrence or isolate anomalies through continuous monitoring of power demands. Available with a pre-installed software solution that is ready to go, the new energy manager solution features a detailed dashboard that displays asset-specific energy consumption in kilowatt-hours (kWh), costs, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission in kgs.

The solution supports up to 10 endpoints which can be expanded to 50 with a license. The software is available as a standalone application suitable for visualized environments or as a preinstalled system on the PACSystems RXi2-BP industrial PC.

Edge hardware offers enhanced connectivity with seamless integration with existing meters, including Emerson's RSTi-EP and other third-party devices. Its scalability ensures that as the operations of the manufacturers grow, the Energy Manager solution accommodates the increased energy monitoring needs. Manufacturers can reduce energy waste by 10-30% and cut emissions by 15-30% using the solution to achieve both environmental and financial goals.

Beyond Electricity Monitoring

Going beyond electricity monitoring, Emerson’s Energy Manager can be integrated with the Compressed Air Manager to not only assess energy consumption in production lines or factories but also monitor the usage of compressed air, which is a critical area of industrial efficiency. In a statement by Emerson’s intelligent automation product manager, Eugenio Silva, accurate and reliable energy costs and emission monitoring are crucial assets for organizations.

Silva adds that the Energy Manager’s real-time visibility into energy consumption and operating costs enables corporate stability teams, facility managers, and operators to track progress, meet regulatory requirements, and reduce carbon footprint.
