In a recent announcement by SMC Corporation, three new products have been added to its product portfolio. The pneumatic and automation solutions company has added the new PFUW series flow sensor, CM2 series air cylinders, and SY5000/7000-X701 series pneumatic valve to its line of industrial products.

SMC's New PFUW Series Flow Sensor

The PFUW series of flow sensors promises simplified installation with its clamp mounting design and flexibility in use, giving “eight zeros.” Available in two models, the sensor has a flow rate ranging from zero to 60 L/min for the PFUW760 model and a range of zero to 100 L/min for the PFUW711. The sensor being fitted externally eliminates the need for in-pipe fitting, further eliminating the effects of the water hammer. The clamp-on installation method has the benefit of zero pressure loss and zero clogging. Additionally, the sensor ensures zero piping work and zero leakage. As a result of the sensor not being in direct contact with the fluid medium, there are zero concerns about foreign material entering the piping system.

Compatible with the ½-inch and ¾-inch pipes, the new flow sensor can be mounted closely, saving up space by up to 54%.

The proximity mounting is made possible by using the clamp-on installation method instead of the screw-in type, which has to leave room for a mounting tool. The PFUW series sensor has a dual-coloured display for improved operability and visibility. The 1.44-inch screen also features an ultrasonic indicator that indicates the reception strength depending on the type of pipe, fluid, and the mounting status of the sensor.

When it comes to applications, the new flow rate sensor can be used to manage drainage, cooling welding guns, filler machines, and molding machines. The sensor supports An IO-Link communication protocol featuring a standard M12 connector. The IP65 /IP67 housing design makes the sensor's enclosure withstand challenging environmental factors.

The New CM2 Series Pneumatic Cylinders

Available in 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm diameter sizes, SMC's new CM2 Series pneumatic cylinder features a standard rod end bracket that can be interchanged when mounting to existing models. With a wide range of mounting bracket options, the new cylinders in the series offer improved flexibility in many installations.

The CM2 series features new additions of single-acting and double rod-type cylinders. With the addition of the made-to-order option, the series also features a new non-rotating rod and direct mounting cylinder. The -XC3 model features a special port location, whereas the -XC6 model has a stainless steel design. Regarding use in demanding industrial environments, the CM2 series features the new -XC4 model that can resist dust and the -XB6 model that handles high-temperature applications. Featuring a standard stroke ranging between 25mm to 300mm, the CM2 cylinder series also has the part numbers for accessories like pivot bracket and/or rod end bracket.

The New SY5000/7000-X701 Series Pneumatic Valve

SMC's new SY5000/7000-X701 series 4-position dual 3-port pneumatic valve promises to bring efficiency and flexibility to small spaces and enhance industrial automation control. Integrating two independently operated 3-port valves into one body, the innovative design of the new valve series greatly reduces the number of stations required.

For greater versatility, the new valve series is also compatible with the standard solenoid valve manifold bases for the SY5000/7000 series designed to meet a range of operational needs. The new valve series is available in N.C/N.C and N.C./N.O. configurations, allowing users to select based on their system's requirements. For more installation flexibility, customers can also choose between base–mounted or body–ported body types, and the 1/8 inches, 1/4-inch, and 3/8 inches port sizes also ensure compatibility with different piping systems. Compliant with CE and UKCA certifications, the IP65-rated valve can handle dusty environments.

The three new products promise notable advantages in terms of installation simplicity, efficiency, and system flexibility. This proves SMC's focus on tackling real-world industry issues, enabling their customers to enjoy enhanced performance and lower costs in various applications.
