Surge Protection System
You appear to be mixing up current [loop] protection with storm created voltage protection, including high static voltages, which is a very different scenario. We have in the past used barriers, not only for isolation but knowing they would protect from high voltage spikes. A DC to DC...

Please explain how the instrument and it's 24vDC power supply is protected from lightning surge with just an isolator ?

The above would work for A=B only. How would you surmise A>B and A<B ?

Master/Slave
This must be a fairly recent innovation by Siemens as I have not heard of master / slave relationship between CPU's and I/O modules. Historically and especially the S5 series processors, I/O was fixed addressing in 'bytes' so one 16way i/p module would take up 2 addresses. This has continued...

Design the basic comparison instructions using only bit instructions
This appears to be test for those of us who can count in binary but can implement an example logically; and maybe start off from a blank sheet of paper which is how we used to commence software in the 1980's. Firstly create 4 ladder rungs, each with 2 contacts from I0 and I1. Each o/p is the...

Surge Protection System
As stated above, the surge protector above is intended to protect at 670vDC. A surge would have already destroyed 24volt device by then. The nearest I can find is by Furse for telephone applications - see if the spec. is suitable for your application: IP66 Telephone Line Protector - Furse ESP...

Pcl modicon e984-265
The early 984's used to have the hardware and comms. configuration as part of the application program; how to access would be integral to your software. What software are you using ?

PC Based Control - Labview and Micro800 as an I/O
It was many years ago Rockwell went with PC based control. All seemed fine but every so often the PC crashed for no obvious reason. Can't remember now what it was called. So have stuck with PLC's - and the Micro800 is an excellent small, good value for money PLC.

Modicon 984A-145 No EOL (End of Logic) detected or bad number of segments
If the fault cures for a while then it suggests your application is OK. It's not clear why the PSU would be the cause; more likely intermittent corrupt memory. You can still buy secondhand / new P120; the disadvantage of external psu is multiple output voltages.

Any Siemens PPCL gurus here?
I've just glanced at a 20yr old manual from APOGEE and I'm not surprised Siemens dropped PPCL - even in 2000 it appears to me very dated and thus limited in evolutionary terms. I'm guessing if it has US (united states) processor then firmware would have originated there as well. In which case...

Vibration measurement for variable speed pump
Generally it's the vibration monitoring system that suppresses unwanted alarms at startup; however your description suggests unwanted vibrations occur on speed increase. You also have a variable speed pump, so how / at what speed would you determine when vibration monitoring is to be suppressed...

Control a DC motor using PLC
It was a few years ago but I had a project with a Siemens S5 (it was a few years ago !) using Emerson drives. The only digital signal was a 'stop' signal for safety reasons. All the commands, including stop, were sent by ASCII messages to each drive {four in total}. Made the Software an...

Control a DC motor using PLC
Welcome to the Forum. I'm tempted to say the PLC is the easy bit although as a beginner, Siemens PLC's take a little time to understand. You haven't stated make/model of motor drive, so I'll make a few assumptions: For raising, you want the PLC to give a digital o/p (output) to 'Go!' {upwards}...

Can I connect the analog out A0 of delta plc dvp10sx to three delta elw VFDs
There is nothing in the VFD manual that suggests the analogue i/p or more important the common can be connected together. Like wise for the PLC A/O common. One suspects if you asked the manuafacturer's distributor you wouldn't get a straight answer either. Clearly the VFD is designed RS485...

Mineral processing plant crushing and griding automation

Linear Hall effect sensor
You are spoilt for choice - ultrasonic, optic, radio / radar, although the last two are probably better at longer distances. Also depends on what you mean by non-evasive, any of the above could be invasive. it is assumed physical attachment is invasive.
