Hi,

I am using a Siemens 200 system with an analogue input card. I will be connecting instruments that can output either 0-20mA.

If I want to input the current signal directly into the i/p card then I must put in a 750 ohm R in series with the instrument to stop any surge.

The PLC are all nice and neat in a cabinet.

What is the best practical way of including this resistor? can I get a DIN mountable one?

Is the resistor really needed to stop a surge or to convert the current to a voltage? In any case you can buy Din rail mounting terminal housings from people like Weidmuller or their competitors that you can mount resistors (or other components) in.

Never come across a DIN mountable resistor... but DIN mountable terminals with built-in resistors are available.

 

Wago, Weidmuller, Phoenix Contact, etc. all offer nice products that you can use to mount your resistors on a rail.

 

Check out Phoenix Contact and Wago. If nothing else they have DIN Rail mount accessories for mounting protoboards. We've done this a lot. Usually we will use the 0.200" center pluggable screw terminal connectors soldered to the proto board. Pretty clean and inexpensive.

Terminal blocks with built in resistors are available. I use the AB 1492- stuff. But just as easy is to mount regular terminal blocks and put the resistor(s) you need in the terminal blocks yourself.
