mk vi upgrading

we have mk vi control for turbo generator and turbocompressor application and we need to upgrade the system to MK VIe. my question is:

does MK VIe has special application or any old system (speedtronic or MK VI) con be change by MK VIe

I am not exactly sure what you are looking for because you don't state what the need is to upgrade from Mark VI to Mark VIe.

If you are adding equipment (converting from simple cycle to combined cycle or adding new turbines that have Mark VIe, for example), you will get ToolboxST. ToolboxST can handle both Mark VI and Mark VIe. It is not completely seamless, but there is no real reason to justify the expense of converting existing Mark VI controls to Mark VIe. Basically, anything that you have that works through Toolbox will also work through ToolboxST.

You will likely need to upgrade your HMI CIMPLICITY software and operating system if you plan on keeping your exiisting HMI's. (If you have Windows 2000, you will need to upgrade to Windows XP.)

You say you "need" to upgrade to Mark VIe from Mark VI. Who is telling you this? Are you trying to incorporate compressor control into the Mark VI Speedtronic? (Mark VI and Mark VIe are different generations of Speedtronic turbine control systems. The correct name is Mark VI Speedtronic, or Mark VIe Speedtronic, but most people just say Mark VI or Mark VIe and omit the Speedtronic. And some people think it should be called Speedtronic Mark [whatever]; it's all Speedtronic. The "Mark" designation just refers to the different generations of the Speedtronic control system used over the decades it's been produced. Roman numerals with higher magnitude denote newer generations of the Speedtronic.)

I believe that GE has developed an integrated turbine and compressor control (ITCC) application for the Mark VIe Speedtronic. The Mark VIe Speedtronic has more "computing horsepower" than the Mark VI Speedtronic, and GE is no longer manufacturing the Mark VI Speedtronic. So, if you are trying to buy a control system that integrates compressor control into the turbine control system, you may be being told you need to upgrade to Mark VIe Speedtronic.

The Mark VI- and the Mark VIe Speedtronic share some I/O terminal boards, but the similarities pretty much stop there. The entire layout of a Mark VI- and Mark VIe Speedtronic panel and many of the terminal boards are much different, as is the control processors, the way the terminal boards and the control processors communicate with each other. So, while there are some common elements to the two control systems (some, but not all, I/O terminal boards), they are two very different control systems.

As otised says, ToolboxST (the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting application originally used only with the Mark VIe Speedtronic turbine control system) has recently been upgraded to work with Mark VI Speedtronic turbine control systems. So, someone might be telling you that you should, or even need, for some purpose we don't know about, to upgrade to ToolboxST.

I would guess that if you were wanting to integrate compressor control into the Mark VI, and the Mark VI I/O capacity was not a limiting factor (i.e., there is sufficient spare I/O capacity to accommodate the compressor control I/O) that they might quote you an ITCC upgrade and that it would require TooboxST. In which case otised would also be correct, in that you'd have to upgrade your HMI(s) at least to use TooboxST instead of Toolbox.

(Isn't this Speedtronic stuff fun?)

But, I, too, am a little confused by your question, so I hope we have provided at least some useful information.
