Crushing It! ABB’s New DP200 Crush+ NEMA Severe-Duty Motors

Based on its history of building rugged and durable motors, ABB has introduced the new modular NEMA Motor, the DP200 Crush+. This motor is specifically designed for reliable and safe operation in challenging environments encountered in mining, quarry, and aggregate applications. The DP200 Crush+ is based on ABB’s SD200 motor platform and is offered in NEMA 440 to NEMA 580 frame sizes.

DP200 CRUSH!

The DP200 Crush+ was designed to exceed the demands for reliability and safety in some of the world's most challenging environments. The SD200 Crush platform comes in various sizes and options, making it easily adaptable for customers to upgrade or retrofit existing systems.

Modularity was a key design for making the SD200 Crush+ a success. Oscar Palafox, global portfolio Product manager, says, “The modular design offers a high level of flexibility for our customers and makes it easy to upgrade or retrofit existing systems in the field or implement future equipment designs and requirements.”

The DP200 Crush+ is built with robust cast-iron construction and is equipped with a high-strength 4140 steel shaft featuring IP65 Ingress and non-contact labyrinth seals on both ends. It also boasts Full Class H insulation. Additionally, the Crush+ model includes a flexible oversized conduit box with 90° rotation, F1, F2, and F3 positioning, and the option for center or drive-end mounting. Furthermore, the ABB Ability Smart Sensor is ATEX, IECEx, and NEC500 certified, ensuring compliance with the most stringent requirements for equipment operating in explosive atmospheres.

The ABB Ability Smart Sensor transforms conventional motors into wirelessly connected, intelligent devices, allowing users to proactively monitor motor health and schedule maintenance, preventing unplanned downtime and optimizing efficiency. The sensor's robust enclosure is designed to withstand high levels of vibration and protect against dust and water.
