Precision and Reliability: Autonics Releases EP50S Rotary Encoders
Autonics’ new EP50S series single-turn absolute rotary encoders are designed to bring precision to position control applications. The 50 mm encoders are capable of resolutions up to 1024 divisions.
In industrial automation, manufacturing equipment precision, efficiency, and durability are key factors in maintaining high-quality production processes. Manufacturers often rely on advanced motion control systems to ensure machines operate with accuracy and consistency to provide quality products with excellent build quality.
Autonics has created the EP50S series absolute rotary encoders to provide users with a reliable solution for industrial processes that require precise position detection, speed monitoring, and motion control. The new rotary encoders are designed to enhance productivity and operational efficiency for various applications, including in machining, robotics, and elevator control.

Speed and Position Control
Industrial manufacturers with equipment like elevators, conveyor systems, and CNC machinery face the challenge of maintaining exact speed and position control. Any misalignment or deviation can result in production errors, wasted materials, and downtime.
Traditional sensors often struggle to meet the high-speed and accurate demands of automated systems, leading to inefficiencies and reduced product quality. To address these issues, Autonics has created the EP50S series of absolute rotary encoders to deliver fast and accurate feedback in motion control systems.

EP50S Series Rotary Encoders
Autonics’ new EP50S series of single-turn absolute rotary encoders are designed to report the position and speed in automated systems, offering a reliable and accurate solution for industrial motion control. They are available in a 50 mm size housing with an 8 mm solid shaft.
One of the key advantages of the EP50S series is its high resolution. The encoders are available in resolutions up to 1024 pulses per revolution (PPR). This ensures accurate position feedback, making it ideal for applications like plastic extrusion, parking tower positioning, and elevator and lift control.

EP50S Key Features
The EP50S series rotary encoders come equipped with several features that make them suitable for different applications. The encoders are offered in models that produce various output codes, including BCD, binary, and Gray codes so that the series can be integrated into different machine designs and motion control setups. Users can also choose from axial or radial cable-type models to suit their individual needs without having to change existing equipment.
The encoders support two output types, NPN and PNP, allowing seamless integration with a broad range of automation equipment and controllers. Autonics encoders are built with aluminum housing and are rated to IP65, making them resistant to dust and moisture. An IP65 rating and UL certification (depending on the model) can give manufacturers peace of mind that the encoders will operate in harsh industrial environments.
Reliable Motion Control
For manufacturers looking to improve precision and reliability in automation, the Autonics EP50S series rotary encoders present a compelling solution. The EP50S series rotary encoders are designed for use in industries that require precise motion control in automated systems.
