Universal Robots Set to Host First Virtual Cobot Conference in Asia-Pacific

October 08, 2020 by Sara McCaslin

Despite the challenges surrounding a virtual event, Universal Robots announced its first virtual collaborative robot expo for its Asia-Pacific customers.

WeAreCOBOTS APAC, the first Asia-Pacific virtual collaborative robots exhibition, and conference is being held 6 to 8 October 2020, from 10 am to 6:30 pm daily (GMT+8).

WeAreCOBOTS Event

WeAreCOBOTS is an opportunity for engineers interested in cutting-edge cobot technology to safely meet with experts, industry leaders, and vendors from the comfort of their own homes or offices to learn more about the latest developments in cobot technology

In June of this year, Universal Robots hosted “We Are Cobots – the World's Largest Virtual Collaborative Robot Expo" for a European audience followed by another WeAreCOBOTS expo for American audiences in July. The WeAreCOBOTS APAC, however, is focused on the needs of the Asia-Pacific market

WeAreCOBOTS APAC

Universal Robots is bringing this conference to Asia for many reasons. One of these reasons is the rising number of SMBs (small and medium businesses) and enterprises implementing cobots to take over tasks that are dangerous, repetitive, or difficult.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 across the globe, there is a renewed interest in using cobots as a means of protecting workers by reducing human interactions and performing tasks such as area disinfection. However, that is not the only reason why the Asia-Pacific region deserves its cobot expo and conference.

Business owners have experienced severe issues related to supply chain disruptions, causing them to explore reshoring options and rapidly changing product demand. Cobots serve as a cost-effective, easy to implement a solution to both of these problems, not to mention the profitability potential that comes with the wise use of cobots.

Keynote Speakers

There are several keynote speakers, including:

  • Dr. Yeong Che Fai, Director of DF Automation & Robotic
  • Mr. Amar Burud, Senior Manager in Industrial Engineering of Continental Corporation in India
  • Mr. Darrell Adams, Head of SEA and Oceania
  • Mr. Jürgen von Hollen, President, Universal Robots

Note that a live Q&A session follows all the keynote topics, and the presentations can later be viewed on-demand.

New Technology and Innovations

Many different exhibitors, including Universal Robots, Alstrut, SICK, CKD, SCHUNK, OnRobot, Robotiq, Piab, SMC Corporation, and the Zimmer Group, are demonstrating their latest technology and innovations.

Attendees will learn about products and implementations related to assembly, finishing, quality inspection, and materials handling, just to name a few, as well as emerging trends discussed by industry leaders.

And while the focus is toward SMBs, the information and topics presented are equally applicable to larger production facilities. Critical topics such as maintenance, safety, integration into existing systems, human-robot collaboration for labor optimization, and future-proofing assembly processes are included in the keynote schedule

Speakers and vendors will address Asia-Pacific manufacturing’s current challenges, such as Industry 4.0, the demand for ever-increasing production efficiency, and health and safety concerns.

Universal Robotics is bringing its virtual exposition and conference WeAreCOBOTS to the Asia-Pacific region where factory owners, whether their facility is large or small, can learn more about cobots. This virtual event allows users to register from the safety of their homes or offices, without the risk of contracting COVID-19 or the cost of accommodations.
