Weidmuller Deploys Next-Gen Power Supplies for Compact Power Distribution

Weidmuller USA has released its second-generation PROeco power supplies. The updated series features a compact, durable, and high-efficiency design, built to meet the needs of various industrial applications.

In the world of industrial automation, power supplies may not get the spotlight, but they’re an essential component of every control panel, PLC rack, and system cabinet. And when space is tight and reliability is non-negotiable, power efficiency and thermal performance make all the difference.

PROeco II is the latest upgrade to Weidmuller's established PROeco power line. The second-generation power supplies feature enhanced efficiency and a smaller footprint and are engineered specifically for high-performance industrial use. From automotive plants to food processing, the new series is designed to deliver stable, energy-efficient power distribution with robust thermal resilience and extended service life.

PROeco II Power Supplies

The PROeco II power supply series features a significant energy performance boost, with up to 95% efficiency, according to Weidmuller, and ultra-low idle power draw. These power supplies minimize waste heat and reduce overall energy costs, a feature important in high-density installations with tight power budgets and cooling capacity. The improved thermal profile also leads to lower internal temperatures, helping to extend the lifetime of surrounding electronics and reducing the need for oversized heat management.

Designed for modern control cabinets, the PROeco II power supplies are up to 15% smaller than their previous-generation counterparts. The series is just 32 mm in width and 100 mm in depth, making it suitable for space-constrained cabinets and enclosures. Despite their smaller size, PROeco II power supplies are ruggedized for harsh environments, featuring reliable startup from as low as -40 °C and a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) exceeding one million hours. This level of durability equates to less downtime and fewer service calls over a system's lifetime.

Diagnostics and Integration

Weidmuller has also added smarter diagnostics to the PROeco II series, with a built-in three-color LED system and relay output that provides real-time operating status, normal, warning, or fault. This feature is designed to make field service and commissioning faster and more accurate.

The series also supports seamless integration into preexisting automation systems and is compatible with DC UPS modules, diode modules, and electronic load monitoring systems. For OEMs and system integrators, this means drop-in compatibility with existing infrastructure and easier expansion paths for future upgrades.
